Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Vietravel Airlines secured major regional honors at the 2026 World Travel Awards ceremony held in the Maldives on September 27. Vietnam Airlines received three awards, including Asia's Leading Airline - Customer Experience, Premium Economy Class recognition, and an award for its Lotusmiles frequent flyer program. Vietjet Air was named Asia's Leading Airline Brand, while Vietravel Airlines won the title of Asia's Leading Leisure Airline.
The recognition reflects the strengthening position of Vietnamese carriers in Asia's aviation and tourism sectors. Beyond the airline awards, Vietnam's broader tourism industry gained multiple accolades at this year's competition, with the country retaining its designation as Asia's Leading Destination for the sixth consecutive year. Various Vietnamese hotels, resorts and tourism businesses also earned awards across different categories.
Vietnam's tourism sector has demonstrated strong momentum, welcoming 15.9 million international visitors during the first eight months of 2026, representing a 14.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year. The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are considered a global standard for recognizing excellence in travel and tourism.
For travelers choosing Southeast Asian destinations, these accolades suggest that Vietnamese airlines and tourism services maintain competitive standards in customer experience and service quality across the region.
