Sri Lanka is aiming to attract 3 million international tourists over the next 12 months, with a strengthened focus on the UAE, the wider GCC, and other key markets. The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau is promoting the destination under the brand promise 'Sri Lanka: You'll Come Back for More,' highlighting its beaches, cultural heritage, wildlife, wellness, and outdoor experiences.

The island's compact geography allows visitors to experience multiple attractions in a single trip, positioning it as a year-round destination. Strong air connectivity supports this strategy, with eight daily direct flights between the UAE and Sri Lanka, and another eight daily services connecting the wider GCC region. Tourism officials say this provides convenient options for families, leisure visitors, luxury travellers, and business passengers.

The country is working with travel agents, tour operators, and media across the Gulf to promote its offerings and develop tailored experiences. Key priorities include wellness tourism, with an expanding portfolio of Ayurvedic retreats and yoga centres, as well as weddings, MICE infrastructure, and cruise tourism with port developments in Colombo, Galle, and Trincomalee. Eight new five-star resorts and boutique properties are also adding capacity.

For travellers, this means more options for wellness, luxury, and event-based trips to Sri Lanka, supported by improved connectivity and new facilities.
