The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has announced a new growth strategy at the Arabian Travel Market, aiming to attract 3 million international tourists within the next 12 months. The plan focuses on strengthening ties with the UAE, the wider GCC, and other global markets under the brand slogan 'Sri Lanka: You'll Come Back for More.'

Sri Lanka is positioning itself as a versatile year-round destination, highlighting its compact geography that allows visitors to combine coastlines, cultural sites, wildlife, wellness retreats, and outdoor activities in a single trip. Air connectivity is central to the strategy, with eight daily direct flights from the UAE and eight daily flights from the wider GCC to Sri Lanka.

The strategy expands offerings across key segments including wellness tourism, wedding and celebration travel, MICE infrastructure, and cruise tourism. It also includes growth in luxury accommodations, supported by the opening of eight new five-star resorts and additional boutique luxury properties.

For travellers, the increased air connectivity from the GCC and expanded luxury and wellness options may provide more convenient and diverse travel choices to Sri Lanka.
