Singapore’s tourism businesses explore AI for business needs

Singapore's tourism sector is increasingly turning to artificial intelligence to solve operational challenges. Mount Faber Leisure Group has implemented a solution combining AI with extended reality to train its cable car technicians, addressing the difficulty of providing hands-on practice while keeping the cable car system running.

The group partnered with Illumia Labs to develop the system, which gives technicians faster access to technical information and recreates troubleshooting scenarios for practice. According to Serin Phay, director of operations and asset development at Mount Faber Leisure Group, the approach has allowed the team to learn more effectively and build greater confidence. Training time per person fell by more than 60 percent, and estimated annual overtime savings reached up to 200 hours.

Singapore Expo operator Constellar is another organisation using AI to improve its processes. It began using Microsoft 365 Copilot for tasks such as research and document analysis, then worked with ByteGenie through the Singapore Tourism Accelerator to automate parts of its sales lead research. Constellar is now developing SalesHub, its first AI-native business platform, and exploring Project VISTA for venue analytics.

The Singapore Tourism Board supports these efforts through its AI Playbook for Tourism, which provides a roadmap for businesses at different stages of digital maturity. Resources include industry use cases, workshops and structured testing pathways such as the Singapore Tourism Accelerator.
