Tourism Malaysia has launched a Sales Mission to St. Petersburg and Moscow from 27 September to 1 October 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in the Russian market. The mission supports the Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign and aims to increase Malaysia's appeal to Russian travellers.
The delegation is led by Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, and includes 15 representatives from hotels, travel agents, tourism operators, and state tourism boards. The five-day program features business-to-business meetings, networking sessions, and gala dinners to build industry partnerships and introduce new tourism products, including Surreal Experiences travel packages.
Malaysia promotes its tropical islands, rainforests, multicultural heritage, gastronomy, shopping, and entertainment as key attractions. The minister encouraged travel agents to be more aggressive in promoting Malaysia in Russia, highlighting destinations, food, and culture.
Russian visitor arrivals to Malaysia increased by 4.3 per cent to 98,466 from January to August 2026, compared with 94,420 in the same period of 2025. This growth supports Tourism Malaysia's plans to deepen collaborations with airlines and trade partners to expand its reach in Russia.
For Russian travellers, this mission may lead to more promotional offers and easier access to Malaysian tourism products, as the campaign aims to boost travel demand and strengthen Malaysia's position as a preferred destination.
