The Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Board of Tourism reported that visitors spent $12.2 million in Jeff Davis County during calendar year 2025. This represents an 8.8% increase in spending compared to the previous year, according to data from Tourism Economics and the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The visitor economy supported 121 jobs and generated over $900,000 in state and local tax revenues in 2025. Without tourism-generated taxes, each household in Jeff Davis County would need to pay an additional $170 annually. Notably, food and beverage spending by visitors totaled $4 million last year.
Statewide, Georgia set tourism records for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, ranking fifth in the nation for domestic overnight visitation. A total of 175.6 million visitors spent $46.2 billion across the state, generating $5.3 billion in tax revenues and saving each Georgia household nearly $1,300 in taxes on average.
For travelers, these figures highlight the growing economic importance of tourism in Jeff Davis County and Georgia as a whole, with increased visitor spending contributing to local jobs and infrastructure without relying on property taxes.
